Reference Photos

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to take photos of the reference photo I pulled together, but I used Adobe Photoshop to get.rid of the backgrounds of the images I used to try to get the anatomy as accurate as possible, while also trying to maintain an illustrated and “cartoony” appearance.

I used Procreate to piece all the images together.

Concept

I was going for a vibrant and rather innocent look, but also tried to convey the seriousness by body decapitation and the concept of COVID by incorporating the lungs and the heart along with the “smoke” as it’s an air-borne illness. The fist on the chest was too show solidarity towards the Black Lives Matter movement.

I used a golden sharpie for the background because it’s a complimentary color of blue and to add some extra “pop” to the artwork. I used a black Sakura Pen for the outlines and smaller details.
