Concept & Beginning Process
I emailed back and forth between Flannery and Pietro about what subjects the album art should contain. One of the ideas was a wooden chair with plants growing up the legs of the chair and around the back of it, symbolizing comfort and empty space. The other idea was a window and hands reaching towards each other, as if someone would be looking out yearning for their love to be back home. The hands reaching towards each other contain the sun and the moon in the hand on the right.
There’s also a countryside behind the left side of the window, city on the right. Both of these are to represent the concept of time and distance from each other. I also put plants around the hands and specific flowers in the corner to express the idea of how it takes nurturing and time for love to grow.
Reference photos: I compiled various phtos to create different reference photos that my clients were able to choose from. After they chose what they liked the most, i was able to begin the process.
Drawing and Watercoloring: I drew and painted the concept on watercolor paper and shared the process along the way. They were on a trip and there were some technical difficulties, but we managed to pull through by texting each other rather than emailing.
Final Draft
I used Adobe lightroom to adjust the colors and brightness of the piece and I sent out the completed work via email.
They reached out to me about a year later, asking me if it was okay if they changed the color of the artwork to make it more monochromatic and fit the Winter EP theme. I told them that it was fine, so they changed it. I’m not sure what program they used.
