“An endpoint is a specific URL or digital address where a web server receives requests to perform a particular action or access a resource. It serves as the precise point of contact between two interacting software systems, such as a mobile app (the client) and a backend database (the server)”
BJJ (and other contact sports) requires contact between two opponents. The movement of the opponent indicates to the other player what move should be next. The tip of a predator’s tooth ends in a sharp point, piercing through the precise moments of each attack.
VERSION 1
What I Would Change:
I would adjust the text some more and also adjust the shadows underneath the text so that they line up with the text above the shadow.
What I don’t really like about this one is that there seems to lack visual interest and it' looks a little unfinished and messy to me. I tried to make the circle surround the image resemble a gi belt, but I wasn’t sure what else to add to indicate the gym being specifically for Jiu Jitsu.
VERSION 3
Version 3 is basically Version 2, if I decided to go with the acronym BJJ rather than the word “gym”.
How I Came Up With the Idea:
I used to take Jiu Jitsu classes and I plan on going back sometime. I thought it would be fun to come up a gym idea. My friend and I were brainstorming some ideas, just for the sake of it.
The end point was originally intended for the sharp end point of the tooth of a predatory animal. I didn’t know there was an actual term for it until I looked it up. I also use the internet a lot, so the meaning of it all just seemed to fit together really well. The gym would have classes for children and the program would be called “Tumbling Tigers.” I haven’t fleshed out all the details yet, but it’s all for some good fun.
VERSION 2
What Has Changed:
I enlarged the text at the top and bottom. I also applied Type on Path, which may have also made the text cleaner. I decided to make the bottom text size larger than the top to create hierarchy and visual emphasis. I added wavy lines to the sides, which can be interpreted as as tiger stripes or a frequency, which emphasizes the definition of an endpoint; “…precise point of contact between two interacting software systems.”
I originally intended the company to be primarily BJJ focused, but I think it would be better if it was generalized as a gym, in case there happens to be other forms of martial arts at the location.
Process:
I scavenged around for some reference photo of a tiger and found one that seemed closest to what I was envisioning. I used that tiger as a reference photo as I drew out the head on Procreate.
I then transported it to Illustrator and used Image Trace to convert the drawing into a SVG file, in order to preserve the quality of the artwork.
